QantasLink, the Australian regional operation based in Western Australia, recently unveiled its exciting plans for a major fleet renewal program. It has chosen the sleek and efficient Embraer 190 (E190) as the preferred aircraft type to revamp its operations at Network Aviation.

As part of this ambitious renewal project, QantasLink will bid farewell to its current Fokker F100 (F100) aircraft and usher in up to 14 cutting-edge E190 aircraft. The first of these E190 planes is slated to touch down towards the end of 2026, marking a significant milestone in the airline's modernization efforts.

Moreover, Network Aviation is set to receive a boost with the acquisition of four Airbus A320 aircraft from Jetstar Asia. This strategic move will expedite the retirement of four F100 aircraft within the group, with the A320s expected to commence service by the end of 2025.

Qantas acknowledges that the retirement of the F100s will result in accelerated depreciation charges, but the benefits of this fleet renewal are far-reaching. In a statement, QantasLink CEO Rachel Yangoyan expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "This fleet renewal represents a significant investment in the future of our regional aviation capabilities, and our commitment to serving the critical resources sector and regional communities in Western Australia."

Yangoyan also highlighted the operational efficiency and reliability that the E190 brings to the table, emphasizing the numerous opportunities it will provide for employees in the West. Looking ahead, Qantas plans to keep stakeholders informed as discussions progress on the mid-life E190 acquisitions and specific delivery timelines. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting chapter in QantasLink's journey towards a more modern and efficient fleet.
