Qatar Airways made quite the splash at the 2025 Champions League Final in Munich on May 31, 2025. The Doha-based airline not only sponsored the shirts of the competing teams, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but also backed the entire international tournament. The surprise twist came the next day when Qatar Airways unveiled a striking navy blue and white livery on a Boeing 777-300ER to fly PSG, the winning team, and the coveted trophy back to Paris after their resounding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final.

The exclusive livery featured an all-blue exterior with white titles and was meticulously crafted on the Boeing 777-300ER registered A7-BED. Adorned with PSG's colors and logos, the aircraft flew the triumphant team, as well as their management and the Champions League trophy, from Munich to Paris amidst jubilant celebrations. This champion's flight, with the callsign '5PSG', marked a momentous occasion in PSG's history and showcased Qatar Airways' commitment to excellence and sportsmanship.

After delivering the PSG squad to Paris, the special livery plane returned to Doha with its future in the striking PSG colors unclear. Nevertheless, the efforts put into the bespoke livery ensured that the aircraft would turn heads at airports worldwide for the foreseeable future. This particular aircraft, a 10.7-year-old Boeing 777, was delivered to Qatar Airways in October 2014 and boasts impressive specifications, including General Electric GE90 turbofans and seating for 354 passengers.

Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the significance of their sponsorship with UEFA, PSG, and Inter, emphasizing the airline's values of ambition, precision, and global connectivity. The airline's role in the Champions League final underscored its dedication to providing memorable experiences for fans and celebrating the essence of football.

As the event unfolded, the question arose: what if the final teams did not sport navy and white as their primary colors? Would Qatar Airways have painted another Boeing 777 in different hues had the outcome been different? The speculation surrounding this hypothetical scenario only adds to the intrigue of the airline's grand gesture at the pinnacle of European football. The answer to this speculative inquiry will remain a mystery, leaving room for imagination and wonderment.
