Pratt & Whitney, a division of RTX, and the Philippines' popular budget airline, Cebu Pacific, have solidified their partnership through a substantial 12-year EngineWise comprehensive maintenance services agreement for Cebu Pacific’s GTF engine fleet. The groundbreaking deal was officially announced on the inaugural day of Paris Air Show 2025, making waves in the aviation industry.
Under this long-term agreement, Pratt & Whitney will provide extensive maintenance support for the GTF engines that Cebu Pacific had placed an order for in 2024, particularly to cater to the airline's impressive order of engines for up to 152 A321neo aircraft unveiled in July of the same year. Cebu Pacific, which currently flies 56 Pratt & Whitney powered aircraft, had previously relied on Pratt & Whitney for JT8D engines for their DC-9 aircraft fleet, a testament to their longstanding partnership dating back to the 1990s.
Cebu Pacific's CEO, Mike Szucs, emphasized the airline's commitment to maximizing fleet performance and efficiency by stating, “The GTF engine has enabled up to 20% reduction in fuel burn compared to previous-generation engines – translating into meaningful savings in fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and reduced operating costs. This agreement strengthens our ability to scale sustainably while continuing to deliver on our commitments to passengers.”
