Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is set to elevate the flying experience for its passengers by reintroducing business class on its European flights come October 1, 2025. The news was confirmed by SAS Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Verhagen, at an exciting media event held in Copenhagen last September in celebration of the airline's membership in the SkyTeam alliance.

While SAS already boasts a luxurious business class on its long-haul routes to the United States and Asia, its European network has been missing this premium offering. Instead, passengers have had access to the “SAS Plus” class, which is essentially a step up from economy but falls short of a true business class experience. The decision to nix the traditional business class on European flights back in 2013 was part of SAS' strategic move to compete with budget airlines at the time.

However, with the rise in demand for premium services and a desire to align the passenger experience across all flight segments, SAS is now gearing up to introduce a revamped European Business Class. This new offering will include dedicated cabin space at the front of the plane, blocked middle seats for extra privacy, and an upgraded in-flight dining experience featuring a fresh food and beverage concept.

In addition to these onboard enhancements, passengers flying SAS European Business Class can look forward to extended privileges on the ground, such as access to a wider selection of lounges. The roll-out of this exciting new premium product is scheduled for October 2025, with ticket sales set to open in May of the same year.

With an eye towards meeting heightened passenger expectations and providing a more consistent flying experience, SAS is on track to deliver a revamped and elevated journey for travelers within Europe. Keep an eye out for the launch of SAS' European Business Class, coming soon to a sky near you!
