Star Alliance has recently unveiled its first lounge in Asia at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in China, catering to first and business class passengers. The new Star Alliance lounge, also accessible to gold status customers on member airline flights departing from Terminal 1, officially opened its doors on November 21, 2024. Positioned on the upper level of the existing airport lounge in the Terminal 1 international area, the facility spans 750 square meters and can accommodate up to 100 guests around the clock.

"The introduction of lounges plays a pivotal role in our mission to deliver a seamless travel experience for our member airline passengers," expressed Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias. "Given Guangzhou's role as a crucial strategic hub in Asia, we are thrilled to launch our inaugural lounge in the region, recognizing the continent's increasing significance in aviation growth both presently and in the future."

Featuring panoramic views of aircraft movements, ergonomic workstations, cozy seating areas, and a VIP room for either group or private meetings, the newly opened lounge offers a host of amenities. Guests can relish light bites and local delicacies throughout the day, with a diverse selection of food options available. Moreover, a dedicated bar awaits travelers with specially curated beverages for an enhanced lounge experience.

Qi Yaoming, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, expressed gratitude for Star Alliance's decision to establish their first branded lounge in Asia at Baiyun Airport. "This move not only underscores the trust and support we enjoy but also acknowledges Baiyun Airport's standing as a significant international gateway," shared Yaoming. "We remain committed to the 'Customer First' service concept, further bolstering our reputation as an airline-friendly airport to ensure top-tier service for Star Alliance and its member airlines."

Presently, Guangzhou hosts 10 Star Alliance member airlines, including reputable carriers such as Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, THAI, and Turkish Airlines. Collectively, these airlines operate 774 weekly departures to 50 destinations spanning across 10 countries from Guangzhou, emphasizing the airport's pivotal role in connecting travelers across the globe.
