Starlux Airlines, a Taiwanese carrier, has just made a bold move towards expanding its long-haul reach by securing an order for 10 more Airbus A350-1000 aircraft during the Paris Air Show. The decision to add to its existing fleet of these state-of-the-art planes brings Starlux’s total orderbook for the A350-1000 model to 18, marking a significant step in its strategic growth plan.

By acquiring these additional A350-1000s, Starlux is gearing up to enhance its capacity for ultra-long-haul flights, enabling the carrier to better serve intercontinental routes, including the newly unveiled destination of Phoenix, United States. The commencement of deliveries is slated for 2031, setting the stage for the airline's further expansion.

Glenn Chai, the CEO of Starlux, expressed the company's enthusiasm about this milestone, emphasizing the importance of bolstering their global presence and enhancing connectivity with key markets. Chai highlighted the ongoing support from Airbus, noting that Starlux is committed to providing passengers with an exceptional travel experience. Additionally, he hinted at the prospect of introducing the airline's first European destination by 2026, signaling a new chapter in its international journey.

Starlux Airlines currently operates a fleet exclusively made up of Airbus aircraft, including 13 A321neo, five A330-900neo, and eight A350-900 passenger planes as of early 2025. The carrier's outstanding orders comprise six more A321neos, three additional A330-900neos, two A350-900s, and eight A350-1000s, the first of which is anticipated to be delivered towards the end of 2025. On the cargo front, Starlux has committed to acquiring 10 A350F freighters, with the confirmation of an additional five units in January 2025, solidifying its presence in the freight transport segment.
