Turkish Airlines Makes Historic Debut in Sydney
Exciting news for travelers as Turkish Airlines celebrated a milestone moment by landing its longest ever flight at Sydney Airport. The Boeing 777-300ER touched down on November 29, 2024, bringing CEO Bilal Ekşi on the inaugural journey from Istanbul to Australia's vibrant capital.
The journey kicked off the day before from Istanbul Airport, with a stop in Kuala Lumpur before embarking on the final leg to Sydney. Greeted warmly by airport officials, the Turkish Airlines team marked the occasion with pride. Ekşi expressed his joy, stating, "This momentous occasion marks Turkish Airlines’ longest flight path in history, as we happily add our second Australian city to our flight network."
Initially offering four direct services a week from Sydney to Istanbul via Kuala Lumpur, plans are in motion to increase to five services per week starting June 2025. Looking ahead to 2026, Turkish Airlines aims to introduce a non-stop service to Sydney from Istanbul, utilizing their new Airbus A350-900 aircraft for a seamless travel experience.
The entire airline industry is buzzing with excitement as Turkish Airlines continues to pave the way for convenient travel between Europe and Australia. After successfully launching flights from Melbourne earlier in the year, Sydney joins the network as the carrier's second Australian city. Sydney Airport CEO, Scott Charlton, shared his enthusiasm: "We’re proud to welcome Turkish Airlines as they strengthen our international network, offering passengers more choice and connectivity to Europe and beyond through Istanbul."
With a commitment to expanding global travel options and providing top-notch service, Turkish Airlines is making waves in the aviation world with its new Sydney route. Stay tuned for more updates as this airline continues to connect the world with style and comfort.
