United Airlines recently revealed its exciting ‘United Elevated’ interiors for the new Boeing 787-9 aircraft set to operate on long-haul international routes by 2026. The Enhanced interior makeover of the 787-9 involves a comprehensive redesign, boasting a total of 99 premium seats, marking the highest proportion among US airlines. Among the notable features are the eight United Polaris Studio suites situated in the foremost row of every business class section. These top-tier suites offer passengers lie-flat, all-aisle-access seats that are 25% more spacious than the standard United Polaris seats. Each suite comes complete with a private door, an extra ottoman seat for companions, exclusive gourmet selections, an Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche service, and enhanced amenity kits.

Additionally, the suites are equipped with cutting-edge amenities such as wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and a massive 27-inch, 4K OLED seatback screen, which is currently the largest among US airlines. Standard United Polaris seats have also been upgraded to feature suites with sliding doors and larger 19-inch 4K OLED screens.

Andrew Nocella, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at United Airlines, expressed the airline’s commitment to providing an exceptional international travel experience with the new developments. “We already deliver a superior international experience and fly to the most places across the Atlantic and Pacific – these new innovations provide a more premium experience overall, give customers even more reasons to choose United, and set our airline up to grow into the next decade and beyond,” he noted. “We never stand still and are always looking for more ways to set ourselves apart from other carriers. And we’re confident this elevated experience will take international flying to new heights,” Nocella added.

Not leaving out economy class passengers, United Airlines also enhanced the economy seats, fitting each one with Bluetooth connectivity and larger screens. The airline disclosed that it has allocated over $150 million for total food and beverage enhancements by 2025, offering expanded meal options with three entree selections, fresh desserts, and an appetizer course in the economy cabins.

United Airlines anticipates receiving the first B787-9 featuring the United Elevated interior prior to the end of 2025, with its initial international flights slated for 2026 from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and SFO to London Heathrow International Airport (LHR).
