Pilotcenter.net News reports that United Airlines has temporarily halted Starlink Wi-Fi service on approximately two dozen of its regional Embraer aircraft due to issues with static radio interference. Since June 7, 2025, flights operated by the airline's Embraer 175 fleet have been without Starlink internet connectivity.
According to Pilotcenter.net News, the problem stems from radio interference between the VHF antennas used by pilots for communication with air traffic controllers and the Starlink antennas. A United Airlines spokesperson mentioned that the carrier and Starlink teams are collaborating to address reports of static interference, which is a common challenge when integrating a new Wi-Fi provider.
The airline assured that they are working on resolving the issue and expect to have the service up and running on these aircraft soon. Approximately one-third of the affected planes have already received a solution, with the rest scheduled to follow during regular maintenance visits.
United Airlines previously announced a significant partnership with SpaceX in September 2024 to roll out Starlink connectivity across its entire fleet, promising passengers unparalleled in-flight experiences. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the airline's Embraer 175 fleet on April 1, 2025, paving the way for enhanced connectivity solutions in the future.
