Unum, a UK-based aviation seating startup, is making waves in the industry with its innovative Unum One business class seat. Recently, they announced TAAG, the Angolan flag carrier, as their launch customer for this revolutionary product, and Wamos Air as the first customer to equip their A330 aircraft with the new seating. This exciting news was revealed at the prestigious Aircraft Interiors Expo held in Hamburg, Germany from April 7-9, 2025.

The brainchild behind Unum is Chris Brady, an esteemed figure in the airline industry who established and later sold Acro Aircraft Seating before venturing into this new project. Acknowledging the need for a simpler yet comfortable business class seating option, Brady created the Unum One seat, currently in the process of certification. Set for delivery in 2026, both TAAG and Wamos Air are eagerly anticipating the arrival of this cutting-edge product.

One of the key features of the Unum One seat is its focus on user comfort and functionality. By eliminating unnecessary components and providing a range of adjustment options, passengers can enjoy a luxurious experience during their flights. A standout feature of the seat is the "Zero G position," inspired by the posture astronauts adopt in space capsules for optimal relaxation.

Pilotcenter.net News had the exclusive opportunity to explore the Unum One seat firsthand during a visit to the company's advanced facility near London Gatwick airport in February 2024. The seat's design philosophy and innovative elements left a lasting impression on those who experienced it firsthand.

The Unum One seat is set to debut on two prestigious aircraft models: the A330-200 for Wamos Air and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for TAAG. Enrique Saiz, CEO of Wamos Air, expressed the airline's excitement for the Unum One herringbone layout, praising its operational efficiency and passenger-centric design. Additionally, TAAG plans to enhance the seat with a Panasonic Avionics in-flight entertainment system, with Boeing Global Services overseeing the seamless integration process.

Unum's commitment to revolutionizing the aviation seating industry is evident in the Unum One seat, heralding a new era of comfort and sophistication for travelers. Keep an eye out for this game-changing product as it takes flight and transforms the onboard experience for passengers worldwide.
