Vietnam Airlines is spreading its wings once again, reconnecting travelers with Russia through the revival of direct flights between Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) and Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO). After a hiatus of three years due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the nine-hour nonstop flight, VN 63, took off on May 8, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the national carrier. With the entire Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner filled to its maximum capacity, passengers were eager to embark on this journey that rekindles the connection between two bustling capitals.

Initially operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the frequency of this flight route is expected to escalate to thrice-weekly by July 2026, indicating a growing demand for travel between Vietnam and Russia. The strong resurgence in passenger traffic between the two countries, which soared by 2.3 times in 2024 to surpass 220,000, exemplifies the enduring appeal of these destinations to travelers seeking diverse experiences.

In a move to further strengthen ties and explore new opportunities, Vietnam Airlines inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russia’s prominent VTB Bank just two days following the resumption of the Hanoi-Moscow route. This pact embodies a commitment to fostering cultural exchange, bolstering tourism initiatives, and fostering collaboration for mutual benefit in the foreseeable future.

As the summer season beckons with promises of exciting adventures, Vietnam Airlines is also gearing up to reestablish international connections beyond the Moscow route, unveiling a grand plan to reignite travel between various destinations. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling journey that promises to bring boundless possibilities for exploration and discovery. #VietnamAirlines #CherishEveryMile 🛫
