Virgin Atlantic and WestJet have recently announced an exciting expansion to their collaborative codeshare agreement, set to boost travel options between Canada and the UK. This partnership aims to enhance business, leisure, and connections for friends and family visits between the two countries. The enhanced agreement will enable travelers flying from Canada to India via London to conveniently access onward connections. In a bid to increase competition in the UK-to-Canada market, Virgin Atlantic is gearing up to re-launch its Toronto route come March 2025, opening doors for a full-blown codeshare agreement to take flight. With a mix of aircraft including the Airbus A330neo, the London-Heathrow to Toronto-Pearson International Airport route will pave the way for seamless connectivity for Canadians heading to destinations such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Dubai, the Maldives, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.

Through this expanded partnership, customers booking through Virgin Atlantic will be able to smoothly transition from a WestJet flight via Toronto to London on a single ticket. The roster of Canadian cities linked via the codeshare includes Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and more. Setting the stage for a convenient experience, both airlines will co-locate at Terminal 3 of Toronto Airport. This strategic move will allow for smooth luggage transfers and easy connections between flights for travelers.

Juha Jarvinen, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic, highlights the significance of Canada as a key market for the airline, offering seamless travel experiences for customers traveling between Canada, the UK, India, and beyond. The partnership with WestJet, in addition to collaborations with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM, promises enhanced connectivity for customers.

Emphasizing the commitment to providing top-notch travel experiences, John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at WestJet, expresses excitement about supporting Virgin Atlantic's return to Canada. The expanded codeshare agreement is set to simplify travel for guests traveling between Canada, the UK, and beyond.

As part of its 2025 expansion, Virgin Atlantic is all set to introduce new services to destinations such as Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Accra in Ghana, and Cancun in Mexico. With a focus on providing a seamless travel experience, the partnership between Virgin Atlantic and WestJet signals a promising future for travelers looking to explore new horizons.
