About Us

The Royal Queensland Aero Club (RQAC), founded in 1910, is the oldest flying club in the Southern Hemisphere. Originally known as the Australian Aero Club – Queensland Section, it was renamed the Queensland Aero Club in 1920 and granted a Royal Charter in 1935. Based at Archerfield Airport, RQAC offers flight training from the first lesson to Frozen ATPL, along with various certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma programs. The club has a rich heritage, having trained pilots for Qantas, the Royal Australian Air Force, and other prominent aviation entities. RQAC is a community-driven organisation that preserves aviation legacy and supports aviation enthusiasts through social events, flying competitions, and partnerships. Membership is open to all with an interest in aviation, and the club continues to provide high-standard training with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Join RQAC to be part of a century-long tradition in aviation excellence.
