New Airline Launched in Chile by Parent Company of GOL and Avianca

Exciting News in Latin American Aviation: Abra Group Expands with New Airline in Chile Pilotcenter.net News has recently reported on the latest development in the aviation industry, revealing that Abra Group, the parent company of major Latin American airlines Avianca and GOL, has made a strategic move by establishing a new airline in Chile. Speculation began circulating after a GOL Boeing 737-800 bearing a Chilean registration (CC-DNU) and the label "Operated by NG Servicios Aéreos" surfaced online on October 13, 2025. According to Chilean aviation outlet El Aereo, Abra Group officially registered a firm named NG Servicios Aéreos in Santiago de Chile on July 2, 2025, indicating its interest in venturing into air transportation activities in the region. Aviación Online further confirmed that Abra Group had applied for an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Chile, solidifying its plans to establish the new airline, which will primarily focus on charter and ACMI operations initially. While details about the fleet size of the new Chilean airline remain undisclosed, industry experts are intrigued by Abra Group's existing presence in the Chilean market through its substantial ownership stake in SKY Airline, the nation's second-largest carrier. Analysts believe that the launch of the new subsidiary is part of Abra Group's strategic approach to widening its ownership portfolio and potentially gaining full control of SKY Airline in the future. In a bid to enhance its influence in the Chilean aviation sector, Abra Group reportedly intends to convert a $100 million loan granted to SKY Airline in 2021 into equity by the loan's maturity in October 2026. As the aviation landscape in Latin America continues to evolve, the emergence of this new airline under Abra Group's umbrella signals exciting developments ahead for the industry in Chile. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds!

Brazil's GOL to undergo major restructuring with merger and privatization by GIB

Gol Linhas AƩreas Inteligentes SA, a Brazilian low-cost carrier, is making headlines with its recent announcement of merging with Gol Investment Brasil (GIB), a private corporation. This move marks a significant shift in the airline's structure, transitioning it into a private entity aimed at streamlining operations, creating synergies, and cutting costs. Pilotcenter.net News reports that following the merger, both entities will operate under a single unified name, Gol Linhas AƩreas (GLA). Assets and liabilities from Gol and GIB will be consolidated under GLA, with GOL shareholders receiving new GLA shares based on a predetermined ratio. Meanwhile, GIB's sole shareholder will also be granted GLA shares under the same terms. In a statement, Gol Linhas AƩreas emphasized that GLA has no plans to become a publicly traded company, with GIB, as the controlling shareholder, intending to launch a public tender offer for share acquisition. This transition will see Gol moving away from being a publicly traded airline, resulting in the delisting of its shares on Brazil's stock exchange. This corporate restructuring comes on the heels of Gol's decision to halt merger discussions with rival airline Azul Linhas AƩreas Brasileiras. Originally aimed at creating Brazil's largest airline group, the talks fell through due to a lack of progress and discussions on a potential business combination. Both Gol and Azul had faced financial challenges, leading to Chapter 11 filings in the United States in 2024 and 2025, respectively. Gol's struggles stemmed from mounting debt, declining passenger demand, and aircraft delivery delays, mirroring Azul's financial woes that prompted its own Chapter 11 filing.
