Job Description

Fiji Link is inviting suitably qualified and experienced Local Pilots for the role of Captain DHC-6.

This role reports to the Manager Flight Operations - Chief Pilot through the Fleet Captain DHC6. As the PIC, the successful incumbent will have final responsibility for the disposition of the aircraft while in command. These duties are discharged in accordance with information or direction in the Air Navigation Regulation and other Company documents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft from  taxi-out to engine shutdown.
  • Making informed decisions on flight continuation, diversion, or rejection of the aircraft if airworthiness is in doubt.
  • Operating flights as rostered, in full compliance with aviation regulations and the Fiji Link Flight Operations Manual.
  • Planning and conducting flights based on the latest available information on weather, aerodromes, and alternate routes.
  • Verifying that the aircraft is correctly fueled, loaded, and within structural and performance limits.
  • Confirming all required flight manuals and documentation are current and on board.
  • Briefing passengers on safety procedures and ensuring all crew members are prepared and fit for duty.
  • Maintaining continuous communication with air traffic control throughout the flight.
  • Completing all flight documentation accurately.
  • Reporting any irregularities, incidents, or events that could impact operational safety or reputation.
  • Preserving all recorded flight data following any incident or accident.
  • Adhering strictly to all operational checklists during each phase of flight.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Hold a valid Fiji Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or higher
  • Must be a Fiji Citizen or hold a Fijian Citizenship
  • Possess a current Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Hold a valid Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
  • Type Rated on the DHC-6
  • 2000 total flight hours, including:
    • 500 hours DHC6 Flight time with 250hrs PIC on type
    • 1000 hours on multi-engine RPT turboprop/turbofan aircraft
    • 20 hours of night flying
    • 100 hours of instrument flight time
Hold a valid Fiji Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or higher
