Pilotcenter.net News: Discover Airlines, the leisure market subsidiary of Lufthansa Group, is gearing up to introduce its debut long-haul flights departing from Munich Airport (MUC). Exciting news for travel enthusiasts as Orlando, Florida (MCO), Windhoek in Namibia (WDH), and Calgary in Canada (YYC) have been revealed as the first long-haul destinations to be serviced by Discover Airlines from the Bavarian airport.
The inaugural flight to Orlando is scheduled to take off on March 5, 2025, followed by Windhoek and Calgary on April 1 and 12, 2025 respectively, with all three destinations being catered to thrice weekly. It has been announced that post the summer season, the Calgary service will make way for a new route to Punta Cana (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic, whereas the other two routes are set to operate year-round.
To facilitate these new long-haul routes, Discover Airlines will be stationing two of its Airbus A330 aircraft at Munich Airport, joining the existing six A320 aircraft already based there. Since its establishment in September 2023, Discover Airlines has significantly expanded its scheduled route portfolio to encompass 32 leisure destinations across Europe, predominantly spanning the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.
This latest development comes following the rebranding of Eurowings Discover to Discover Airlines, which previously served leisure markets from Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich between 2021 and 2023. Exciting times ahead for Discover Airlines as they continue to forge ahead with their expansion plans and connect travelers to captivating destinations across the globe.
