Eurowings, the European budget subsidiary of Lufthansa, has recently unveiled a game-changing cabin upgrade that rivals many airlines' business class offerings. The new seats, set to debut on select single-aisle aircraft in their fleet later this year, promise a level of comfort akin to that of widebody jets.
Pilotcenter.net News reports that Eurowings made the exciting announcement on May 29, 2025, introducing a brand-new business class experience for longer medium-haul routes starting in the fall. Dubbed the 'Premium BIZ' seat and supplied by Italian manufacturer Geven, these seats will feature adjustable backrests, ergonomic design, and generous upholstery, providing a luxurious and private travel experience unlike anything seen before on medium-haul flights.
By rolling out the Premium BIZ seats on their Airbus A320neo fleet, Eurowings becomes the first German airline to offer premium seating on narrowbody aircraft. Starting in November 2025, passengers can experience the enhanced comfort and exclusivity of the new business class seats on select routes, beginning with the Berlin to Dubai route. Bookings for the Premium BIZ seats will open in August 2025.
In addition to the Premium BIZ seats, Eurowings will continue to offer its existing business class product, 'SMART' extra legroom seats, and basic economy options, providing travelers with a range of choices to suit their needs. Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings, expressed his enthusiasm for the new seats, stating, “With our new Premium BIZ seat, we offer business travelers and holidaymakers a completely new level of comfort on medium-haul flights."
The introduction of the Premium BIZ seats marks a significant step in Eurowings’ fleet renewal plans, following the airline’s recent order of 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. This investment aligns with the Lufthansa Group’s commitment to sustainable flying, as the new jets will feature enhanced cabin designs for passenger comfort and accommodate up to 189 travelers.
Bischof emphasized the importance of this fleet modernization, stating, “The largest investment in our company’s history shows that we are making rapid progress towards low-emission flying – through significantly lower fuel consumption, lower emissions, and significantly less noise.” The move towards more fuel-efficient aircraft not only benefits the environment but also allows Eurowings to offer competitive fares while ensuring a comfortable and sustainable flying experience for passengers well into the future.
