Frontier Airlines has exciting news to share as they revealed their choice of RTX’s Pratt & Whitney GTF engines to power a grand total of 91 Airbus A321neo aircraft. This significant decision was publicly announced on June 16, 2025, during the prestigious Paris Air Show 2025.

In addition to the engine selection, Pratt & Whitney will provide ongoing engine maintenance services for the Denver-based carrier through a comprehensive long-term agreement. The initial delivery of one of these state-of-the-art aircraft is anticipated to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026. This strategic procurement will substantially bolster the airline's fleet, bringing their total commitment to 235 GTF-powered A320neo family aircraft, which includes previously received deliveries. Currently, Frontier Airlines proudly boasts the largest and youngest A320neo family fleet in the United States.

RTX shared the remarkable advancements in the GTF engine series, highlighting the GTF Advantage as the next milestone in engine technology. This new iteration offers enhanced takeoff thrust capability, superior fuel efficiency, and extended operational time, thereby propelling Frontier Airlines' A321neo fleet deliveries to new heights as it evolves to become the standard production engine in the years ahead.

Reflecting on this momentous decision, Rick Deurloo, President of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, expressed his confidence in the GTF engine and Frontier Airlines' continued partnership. Deurloo remarked, "Four years ago, we welcomed Frontier Airlines to the Pratt & Whitney GTF family and this selection demonstrates the airline’s confidence in the GTF engine. With this latest order, Frontier will continue to realize the benefits of the most fuel-efficient engine for single-aisle aircraft, and we will continue to support Frontier and their operations in the coming decades.”
