Hong Kong Airlines celebrates its 18th anniversary with exciting news of relaunching direct services to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on January 18, 2025. This reconnection will offer passengers more travel options between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Vancouver, as well as seamless connections for those traveling through Hong Kong.
Originally initiated in June 2017, the Hong Kong to Vancouver route was Hong Kong Airlines' inaugural North American destination. Although temporarily suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic, Chairman Yan Bo expressed delight in reigniting this significant link. Bo emphasized their commitment to attracting more travelers to explore Vancouver's allure, fostering both personal reunions and business collaborations.
Bo further highlighted the strategic importance of this route in expanding Hong Kong Airlines' global network, enhancing accessibility between Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, Oceania, and North America. The post-restructuring phase in 2023 saw Hong Kong Airlines revamping its services and actively broadening its reach across more than 30 destinations. Notably, flight volumes have rebounded to pre-pandemic levels this year, boasting an impressive average passenger load factor of around 85%.
With a resolute target of accommodating over five million passengers by the end of 2024, Hong Kong Airlines aims to augment its fleet to meet escalating demand. This fleet diversification will not only bolster operational agility but also extend connectivity to popular destinations spanning mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, the United States, Canada, and Europe.
