Jet2, the British leisure airline, and its in-house tour operator, Jet2holidays, recently celebrated the grand opening of their 13th UK base at London-Luton Airport (LTN) on April 1, 2025. This exciting milestone kicked off with the commencement of passenger operations, featuring two brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft stationed at the airport. With plans to operate up to 36 rotations per week to various European and Mediterranean holiday destinations, including popular spots like the Canary and Balearic Islands, this strategic move marks another significant step in Jet2's notable growth trajectory.

This latest expansion comes hot on the heels of the airline's successful launch at Bournemouth Airport (BOH) back in February 2025, underscoring Jet2's commitment to reaching new heights in the travel industry.

The inaugural flight, LS3863 flown by A321neo G-SUNG, took off from London-Luton at 08:39 on that fateful Tuesday, heading towards sunny Palma Airport (PMI) in Majorca, Spain. Following closely behind was the second flight, LS375 operated by A321neo G-SUNF, bound for the beautiful Tenerife. To commemorate this special occasion, Jet2 pulled out all the stops, treating customers to a memorable red carpet check-in experience complete with personalized gifts. Lucky passengers were even surprised with free flight vouchers and an exclusive holiday giveaway in Turkey, courtesy of CEO Steve Heapy.

Jet2 is set to offer flights to a total of 17 destinations throughout the summer of 2025, catering to holidaymakers seeking adventure in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, and beyond. This expansion at London-Luton further solidifies Jet2's presence in the South of England, complementing its existing operations at London-Stansted Airport (STN) and Bournemouth.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2 and Jet2holidays, shared, "We are thrilled to kick off operations at London-Luton Airport with a bang. Today marks a significant milestone for us, as we bring our renowned family-friendly ethos, affordable package holidays, and top-notch customer service to a new audience. The warm reception we've received speaks volumes about the demand for our exceptional offerings."

Additionally, Alberto Martin, Chief Executive of London Luton Airport, expressed excitement over Jet2's debut at the airport, emphasizing the positive impact on the local economy and passenger experience as a result of this collaboration.

With over 125 new jobs created and a promising Winter 25/26 program on the horizon, Jet2's presence at London-Luton Airport heralds a new era of travel possibilities for customers seeking unforgettable winter escapes to sun-drenched destinations like the Canary Islands, Spain, Turkey, and Portugal. The airline's upcoming winter season is poised to offer over 140,000 seats on 19 weekly flights, building on the success of its summer ventures and paving the way for more thrilling adventures ahead.
