Norwegian Air Shuttle is making strategic moves to secure its future by acquiring three Boeing 737-800 aircraft that it had been operating under lease. In a recent announcement to the Oslo Stock Exchange, the airline revealed its plan to enhance financial flexibility and increase asset ownership. The deal, set to close in Q3 2025 and funded through the airline's cash reserves, is expected to yield significant benefits. By taking ownership of these aircraft, Norwegian anticipates a one-off gain of NOK 260 million (€22 million) and recurrent annual savings of NOK 25 million (€2.1 million) by transitioning from rental to ownership.

This move follows Norwegian's previous successful transaction in March 2025, where it secured ownership of 10 Boeing 737-800s. Currently, Norwegian Air Shuttle operates a fleet of 37 Boeing 737-800s and has additional orders in place, including 50 B737-8 MAX aircraft. Its subsidiary, Norwegian Air Sweden, adds to the fleet with its own set of Boeing aircraft.

Taking control of its future, Norwegian Air Shuttle's strategic acquisitions highlight its commitment to long-term growth and operational success. Stay tuned for more updates from the aviation industry on Pilotcenter.net News!
