Pilotcenter.net News reports that United Airlines has welcomed the arrival of the first of its six new Boeing 737 MAX 9 jets, part of a deal with US lessor Aircastle. With the initial delivery hailing from Boeing's production hub in Seattle, Washington, the additional five planes are scheduled to join United's fleet by the end of 2025. All six aircraft are set to be equipped with CFM Leap engines, facilitating the expansion of United Airlines' range of modern and fuel-efficient planes.

Expressing pride in this milestone partnership, Aircastle CEO Mike Inglese emphasized the significance of providing United with top-tier, environmentally friendly aircraft. Eric Harder, United's Vice President and Treasurer, also conveyed his gratitude for Aircastle's role in advancing the airline's fleet modernization efforts and long-term growth strategy.

With the anticipation of welcoming 137 Boeing 737 MAX 9s and 19 737 MAX 8s, United Airlines has been gearing up for a significant fleet enhancement. Scott Kirby, the CEO of United Airlines, has not been shy in voicing his concerns over Boeing's delivery delays, drawing attention to the recent quality issues highlighted by the FAA following an incident involving an Alaska Airlines 737-9 in early 2024. This incident accentuated broader production challenges at Boeing, underscoring the importance of industry-wide adherence to quality and safety standards.
