Wizz Air Reveals Plans for Early Resumption of Flights to Israel
Hungarian airline, Wizz Air, is gearing up to resume flights to Israel earlier than anticipated following the lifting of restrictions by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The operator recently announced that flights to Israel will recommence on August 8, 2025, a month ahead of the original schedule, much to the delight of their Israeli passengers.
The restrictions were put in place on June 13, 2025, in response to heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, which culminated in a military strike and subsequent retaliatory attacks. Fortunately, following a period of calm, the warning was lifted on July 7, 2025, paving the way for airlines to resume flights to Israel.
András Radó, Head of Communications at Wizz Air, expressed their commitment to reconnecting passengers and keeping the world connected, stating: “We’re back — and we’re back with purpose. Our early return to Tel Aviv demonstrates our commitment to our loyal Israeli passengers and to keeping the world connected.”
The airline will be relaunching 10 out of its 24 routes to Tel Aviv, spanning eight countries, earlier than initially planned. Additionally, two routes from Budapest, Hungary, and Larnaca, Cyprus, are set to kick off on August 8, 2025, with more routes from various cities in Europe and Abu Dhabi slated to resume operations by September 1, 2025.
Moreover, in a positive sign of normalization, United Airlines has announced plans to recommence flights from New York to Tel Aviv on July 8, 2025, making them the first US carrier to resume services to Israel following the recent tensions in the region.
