Position Summary
The Pilot in Command or Captain position is primarily responsible for safe and efficient ground and in-flight operations of the aircraft. A successful Captain will exceed our customers’ expectations while maintaining clear and effective communication with Leadership, Team Members and dispatch. Our most successful Captains will thrive by acting as leaders and mentors to their First Officers to cultivate a culture of insight, prestige, and authenticity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administratively responsible to the Chief Pilot.
- Primarily responsible for safe and efficient ground and in-flight operation of the aircraft.
- Check identification of all passengers before they board the aircraft.
- Ensure pre-flight check list is thoroughly completed.
- Train and mentor First Officers on assigned flights and aircraft
- Anticipate our customers’ needs and strive to exceed their expectations.
- Comply with FAA and international aviation regulations, Thrive’s GOM, Operational Specifications, and adhere to department operating procedures.
- Maintain communications and coordination with assigned crew, dispatch, maintenance, and administration.
- Other duties as assigned by management or senior leadership.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform required duties.
- Must have and maintain FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Must be able to maintain the seated position in a small space for an extended period.
- Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while in a Flight Crew position.
- The work is typically done while sitting for a long period of time.
- Employee will interact with the customer and other flight crew in a small space.
- Employee may be required to spend several weeks, or more, away from home while working based on business needs, flight schedules, and trips booked dependent upon international destinations and itineraries.
- Employee may have irregular hours and be called to fly or notified of canceled flights with little notice.
Experience & Qualifications
The most successful candidate in the position will meet most, if not all, of the following criteria.
- Must have a minimum of 4,000 hours of total time with at least 1,000 hours of multi-engine time as PIC
- Must have prior experience with overwater, long-haul, international missions
- Must reside in, or within two hours of SNA, VNY, BUR, LAX, ONT, LGB, SAN, OAK, SFO, SJC, PDX, SEA, PHX, ABQ, LAS, RNO, DEN, DAL, DFW, AUS, DSM, IAH, HOU, PBI, FLL, MIA, TPA, MCO, ORD, PWK, ATL, GSO, CLT, TEB, LGA, EWR, JFK, or BOS. Candidates living in LAS are highly preferred.
- Experience delivering prestigious levels of guest service with high-profile clients and practicing the highest level of discretion and confidentiality are a must.
- COVID-19 Vaccination is required for this position due to international travel requirements
- Pilot Certificate.
- Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Permit
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Valid US Passport (must not be expired)
- Current type rating in the applied aircraft is highly desired
- Eligible to fly internationally into any country or jurisdiction without restrictions
- The ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and willing to take on new challenges as the company grows.
