Job Description
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is seeking an experienced Fixed Wing Pilot to operate single and multi-engine airplanes for transport of Department staff, Governor, and for airborne surveillance in traffic and criminal enforcement operations for Department of Public Safety and other law enforcement agencies, as required. Performs related duties as assigned. This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and a high school graduate or have a GED.
- By the starting date, must be a resident of the State of Arizona.
- Must have a valid Arizona driver license no later than effective starting date.
- Must be an FAA Airline transport pilot – Airplane Multi-engine Land.
- Must be an FAA Commercial pilot – Airplane Single engine Land.
- Must hold an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Must have 2500 total flying hours, 1000 of which must be as pilot-in-command.
- Must have 500 hours airplane multi-engine.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience operating King Air aircraft.
- Experience using Proline 21 and Garmin G1000 flight decks.
- CFI/II or Military equivalent.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the flexibility to work any hours including weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, callouts, and overtime.
- Must be willing to work in varying climates, temperatures, and weather conditions.
- Must reside within 30 miles of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
- No outside employment during 12-month probationary period to include furloughs from FAR 121 or 135 operations; this does not apply to military duties or obligations.

- Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants. DPS supports a drug-free work environment through pre-employment drug testing.
